The advanced course is the next thrilling chapter in your scuba diving journey. It’s designed for divers who want to enhance their skills, explore new underwater adventures, and gain confidence in diverse diving scenarios.
This Koh Tao dive course is mostly about getting you more real-world diving experience than spending time on skills and drills. So, you’ll be pleased to hear there’s minimal academic work and no final exam. The focus is on getting you some quality underwater time.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ADVANCED DIVE COURSES ON KOH TAO
The advanced diver program expands your horizons by familiarising you with five specialty areas while simultaneously introducing you to some of the best dive sites on Koh Tao. Diving has never been so much fun! Advanced-level Koh Tao diving sites include crowd favourites like Chumphon Pinnacle, Southwest Pinnacles, and our three incredible Navy warships – HTMS Sattakut, HTMS Suphairin, and HTMS Hanhak Sattru.
There are several exciting types of dive you can select to build your advanced course to suit your training goals. To experience the very best that Koh Tao diving has to offer, we recommend choosing the Deep, Navigation, Buoyancy, Night, and Wreck electives. However, other options include Underwater Photography, Fish Identification, Search and Recovery, and more!
THE SCHEDULE
Here’s a typical timeline of what to expect when you sign up for advanced scuba diving on Koh Tao with Chalok Reef Divers.
Day 1
In the morning, you’ll meet your instructor to get your course admin done (paperwork, medical forms, etc.) and review some briefing notes for each of your chosen dives. In the afternoon, you’ll head out to complete the first two – usually the buoyancy and navigation dives. In the evening, it’s time to embrace the underwater world in a completely novel way by diving Koh Tao at night! Get ready to be blown away, as this is most of our students’ favourite dive!
Day 2
You’ll head out on the morning boat for your final two dives – typically deep and wreck. In the afternoon, you’ll finish up your paperwork and get your dives logged. If you didn’t night dive the previous evening, you’ll head out on day two instead to complete the course and become a certified advanced diver.
The course comprises 5 dives over just 2 days, and when you learn at our comfortable and affordable Koh Tao dive resort, everything you need is included:
- Learning materials
- A set of rental scuba equipment
- Complimentary tea, coffee, and water on the boat
- Transfers to and from the pier
- 5 ocean dives
- Diving insurance

Minimum age for advanced open water 10 years unless they wish to do the deep dive which is a minimum age of 12 years old
To enrol, you must already be open water certified.
