The Diver Stress and Rescue Course focuses on various diver rescue procedures, preparing you for real-life situations. This 2.5-day course includes both theoretical knowledge and practical training in water sessions. You will learn how to respond to a tired diver, an unresponsive diver, a responsive diver, an unconscious diver, and even a panicked diver. The course also covers rescue techniques for handling distressed divers and responding to diving accidents.

As part of your Rescue Diver training, we strongly recommend completing the SSI React Right First Aid Course.

While the Rescue program focuses on managing diver emergencies in the water, React Right prepares you to respond confidently to medical emergencies at the surface and on land.

This internationally recognised certification includes:

• Primary assessment and structured emergency response
• CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training
• First Aid provider certification
• Emergency oxygen administration for diving-related injuries
• Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training

React Right significantly strengthens your emergency management skills and increases your readiness as a rescue diver.

Divers who already hold a current, recognised first aid certification (such as medical professionals or equivalent qualifications) may not be required to complete React Right. Please contact us to confirm eligibility.

Course Schedule

The SSI Diver Stress & Rescue Course is a structured 2.5-day program that includes:

• 2 academic knowledge development sessions
• Confined pool / rescue training sessions
• 4 open water rescue scenario dives

You will train in controlled environments before applying your skills at real dive sites around Koh Tao.

Equipment and Safety

You will train using standard scuba equipment along with specialised rescue tools, including:

• Rescue breathing masks
• Emergency oxygen units
• Surface signalling devices

The course also emphasises dive safety, accident prevention, and proper emergency protocols to ensure you are fully prepared for real-world scenarios.
